I am shopping for a different family vehicle right now and we are looking at either getting another van or possibly a Suburban. We have only looked at one Sub and it had a bench seat. The leg room was very limited compared to our minivan.

My question is are the third row seats adjustable? Was the seat in the Sub we looked at possibly scooted forward? Is there any more leg room with the captain chairs? Our 2001 Town & Country minivan's third row seat can slide back-and-forth and it can tilt.

We will take a look again later this week. I really would rather have the Sub for hauling purposes, but if the kid's legs won't fit then we'll stick with the minivan.

Man, Hate to say it but the mini van probably has more leg room. My wife and I bought a 2011 Tahoe it was her dream vehicle. ok mine too. but they dont have any freaking leg room for people in the 2nd row yet the third row. I dont think the captains chairs have more room, i think it just may seem that they do because people can put one leg in the middle section, because of no bench. sooo its up to you. ours doesnt have any more room than our 2005 Acura MDX. but i like it alot more because i can customize it more. :laughing1:

ok sorry i did forget to mention that i am 6' 6" and most of the fam (in-laws and immediate) are 5' 10" at minimum

Yeah the minivan is going to have the greatest amount of leg room. They were designed from the ground up to haul families. The suburban would be a better choice if you plan on pulling anything or need more space for cargo AND 6-8 people. If you aren't hauling cargo or don't mind placing stuff on the top, the minivan really is going to be a more comfortable ride for the third row passengers.

^ +1!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frankly, I think the 3rd row seating design on my YUKON totally sucks!!!!!!

My 8 year old daughter will not even sit in the rear no more as she claims her legs start to hurt after a while as there is NO room!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the input. We'll probably go with the minivan. Maybe I'll get a cheap truck down the road.

the minivan has more room because it doesnt have the BALLS that the suburban/tahoe/yukon does!

Ive not had any complaints about the seating. Make them ride in the back of a Camaro for a few years and they will think the back seat of the suburban is as big as a bedroom!

I have actually laid down and slept for a few hours one time in the 3rd row of my 01 Suburban. Its much bigger than my brothers 95 Suburban. But as far as leg room, yeah, your knees will be against the backs of the second row seats. If passenger space is all you need, get a minivan. But if you will be doing any king of towing (a boat or camper) then I would go for a Suburban.
