hi all. my future plans were to get Thorley Tri-Y LT headers and the 15666 Magnaflow Cat Back system. ill probably need a new Y-pipe with cats right? any suggestions on a Y-pipe that will work so that the catback will mount up to correctly? thanks

EDIT: ive heard good things about AEM brute force headers, and they come with a Y-pipe. will these mount up to the same point so that the Catback will fit like it would stock?

wow, bruce, youre actually trying to help! anyway, i live in CA and we have strict emissions laws. i really dont wanna get busted for having no cats. a lot of people say just to swap out the muffler but there will be almost no performance gains from the new muffler, but magnaflow says their system gives +10 hp. im in it for the performance more than just noise.

Just so that you know, their 10 hp gain claim is a very generous claim at best. Realistically I'd say you're more apt to see a 5 hp gain tops from the mod so think about that as you continue your research on this system. That is why so many suggest just a muffler replacement due to cost/reward ratio.

Just my 2 cents....

If u buy a lt an y combo with cats ur lookin at 800-1500. Magnaflow catback 400-500. Why spend 2 grand when u can do pacesetter lts an catless y for 350, fake cats 100, magnaflow muffler 100 and tune for 200, that's 750 total. Recycle ur factoy cats for 150 an u got 600 in lts, y, muffler an tune

i was thinking about it, and you guys are probably right about doing custom exhaust... so heres what i was thinking of (or something of the like and i apologize for by 2-bit microsoft paint illustration lol). is this a good setup? im still gonna go with thorley headers and the 3" in and out magnaflow mufflers

Dual 3" exhaust is way to much for the power u will be makin. A single 3" pipe and 3" si so muffler will be more than enough
