I'll be mounting some 24" x 10" wheels on my '15 Yukon XL Denali here in a couple months and have been researching 24" tires in my spare time and looking to see what will suit me best.
My '15 Yukon XL Denali is my daily driver and is driven year round here in Ohio and throughout the mid-west and east coast, the 24's will be on the truck year round as well, so I'm in search of the best all-season all-weather tires I can get. I realize with all-season tires they typically perform well in a lot of categories, but not extremely exceptional in just one category so there are trade-offs. Looking for a tire that has good performance in the rain, can handle some light snow, that isn't noisy, with a decent speed rating, and rides well.
I've had experience on my previous DD (a Trailblazer SS) with Toyo Proxes ST-II's and Nitto 420S, but in a 20" variety. Would buy the Proxes ST-II's over the 420S any day. Both of those model tires are offered in 305/35/24 sizes; but beyond Nexen (Rodian HP), Nitto (420S or Terra Grapplers), Pirelli (Scorpion Zero Assimetrico), Toyo (Proxes), and Yokohama (Parada Spec-X) the remaining tire brands and options start to become foreign to me. I'm definitely not opposed to trying a brand of tires I've never heard of before (the Vercelli Strada 4 seems to have good reviews, just not many) and am open to any tire brand/model not listed here.
Looking to hear any and all feedback from those with 24's riding on either a 295/35/24 or 305/35/24.
What brand/model 24" tires have you had good or bad experiences with?
If you live in an area that gets any snow/ice any experience with your 24" tires in any snowy winter weather and how'd they perform?
How was road noise?
Smooth ride?
I've searched and searched on this forum, there are sporadic threads of people giving some feedback on various 24" tires in different topics in various places of the forum, I'm just looking for some first hand experience for those riding on 24's. Usually I just do my research and make my own decision, but since this is my first full-size SUV and the first set of 24" tires I'll be buying I'm hoping I can lean on this forum as the great resource it has proven to be in a lot of other areas.
So post up, any and all feedback welcome; Appreciate any insight and information I can get.
