You'll need some sticky tires or snows, I like blizzaks. Throttle modulation is key for winter driving and yes you should be able to use chains or at very least some cables. Give yourself lots of extra room and refrain from driving like a *******, common sense is pretty much all you'll need to get through the winters.

I've driven in snow most of the past 20+ years, so I've seen it all.

Biggest two tips: Get good snow tires. Blizzaks are awesome, but soft so don't run them any longer then you have to. Tread-life on dry pavement is not long. Nokian Haakapalita's are great winter tires, but spendy as hell.

Tip two: Don't spin your tires. If you are losing traction in snow/ice, spinning tires just melts the snow/ice creating water, which then makes it even more slippery.

Oh yeah....one other easy thing to do to increase traction in 2-wheel drives: Throw two or three sandbags in the back over the rear axle. The extra weight gives you added traction.

Good luck!

When the winter get closer, give me a jingle on here and I will give you some directions and instructions on driving in the slick!! I don't live too far from you, you could meet up with me and I could show you how to drive in it without a problem!!
I love driving in snow, whether it is in 2 wheel drive or 4!

yeah you won't have to worry too much if you stay in the valley...maybe a weeks worth of snow total. But head up over the pass and thats a different story. I drive 22 all time and I always see people in the ditch or guardrail. Throttle modulation is key, just treat your gas/brake pedal and steering like you are afraid you'll break it. Save the crazy shit for all the empty parking lots.

bags are fine for this area...as far as difficulty its pretty simply unless you wanna go really low.

nah im running my stock rims and the most i'll ever be able to go is either something like 17 inch escalade rims or 22's, but ive been reading around the the forum and is there like some ballpark amount of how much it would cost for an easy not too surgical airbag system if that makes any sense
