So I need to move a queen size mattress and box about 70 miles. I was thinking about using a 2004 Yukon.

I was going to wrap the mattress and box together using that plastic wrap they wrap big crates with (like saran wrap) and then tying it to the roofrack using some rachet tie downs.

Is this going to work or do I need to rent a uhaul or something?

Put the box spring on top of the mattress. Otherwise the mattress will fold in half.

You will be good to go. Just make sure its nice and tight. You could throw one on from front to back to just to be safe since its a bit of a longer drive.
