So I am doing tire and rim shopping and I don't want to spend a lot. I am looking at just sticking with 16" rims but I am not sure how they will look. I am going to go with a 285 tire. It will either be the BFG all terrain or a MT, what do you guys think?

Personally I think if your going to buy a wheel other than stock 18 is the smallest I would go.

33's on a 16" wheel, keys and spacers.

I think its a good look. I like some sidewall. 16-18's wheel looks good with offroad style tires.

Food for thought: Anything smaller than 17" will make not allow enough room for an NNBS front brake retrofit.

What am I looking at price wise for the tires, rims, keys and spacers?

keys and spacers are pretty cheap. Could get em for less than $150.

You'll want shock extenders or longer shocks though.

I picked up some Gabriel 77638 Max Control for $20 a piece (2" longer than stocK) and modified the bushings to work in my truck for the rear. The price went back up on those though.

owl_93 is running bilstein 5100s which are around $75 a piece. I'd suggest this route.
