I just bought ck916's (22") off of Craigslist. The seller said that he had new tpms sensors put in a few months ago. I believe him. When I put the new wheels on my Tahoe, I got the "service tpms system" error, which I expected. I know they need to be programmed. I am getting new tires installed but I don't want to pay dealer pricing. What are the chances that a local tire shop can program the tpms system on these new sensors? I talked to one shop and he said he has a couple tools to try it with, but he can't guarantee they will work. His tire prices are good but I don't want to get stuck having to go to the dealer to have them charge me like $150 to program tpms.

I've heard many say that a dealer will sync them for you for free

Yup found that out just recently, but I always had my local tire shop program them for a 15 buck charge when swapping out wheels.

You can program them for free. Takes 3 minutes.

Hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the key remote for 5 seconds, you'll hear the horn chirp twice and the DIC will say Tire Pressure Learn

Go in this order and let out air from the tire (about 10 seconds). The horn will chirp once to let you know when to stop letting air in/out.

Front left
Front right
Rear right
Rear left

After the rear left has been done, the horn will chirp twice, and you're done.

I had to do it the other day when I swapped rims. Worked the first time.

I think it's your air ride. Take it off, ship it to me, and then test again and report back. I'll PM you my address shortly...
