Hey all, I have a Z71 Hoe and am looking to getting new tires soon. Currently have Michelen LTX M+S... don't like them much. I'm looking at the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S and the BFG Rugged Terrain (or Trail) T/A's. I've heard mixed reviews for both, mostly good. I drive in snow in the mountains on a weekly basis, but also drive a lot of smooth highway. I need a tire that is going to perform very well on snow covered/packed roads with the occasional ice spots. I've read a couple reviews on the Goodyear's saying they do terrible in wet conditions. Does anyone have either one of these tires and can give me a good review in regards to snow?

Not any of the ones you mentioned, but I've got Cooper Zeon LTZ's. They are a great AT tire. I live in Alaska and I've driven in lots snow with them, and they perform very well. Solid ice, not so much, but very, very few tires handle ice well (Blizzaks being one of the few exceptions, and what I run in the winter).

I have run these tires in mud, sand, snow, and they've never failed to do an excellent job. They handle well on dry pavement and are very quiet for AT tires. I really can't give them a much higher recommendation. Tread is a bit soft and wears faster than I would like, but like everything there's a little give and take...to get the performance and noise reduction, it needs to be softer. And nothing works worse in ice than rock-hard tread.

Here's a pic, not on my truck but it's a better pic than any I have (this is 01Konvict's ride):

I have the Wrangler Silent Armor on my Suburban and have had no complaints with them. We had very little snow last year, but the few times I took it out I had no problems. It's a very smooth riding quiet tire. YMMV because mine is a 3/4 ton. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

DenaliAK, man that yukon looks good! haha

But yes the tires look good for an A/T and perform great also! I recommend the Cooper Zeon LTZ

If you want a strictly winter tire for snow and ice, there's a few that are probably equally good. The Toyo's above look good, but I've never tried them. I've used Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1's exclusively for winter driving for a few years and absolutely love them. They are made from faerie dust and magic and just stick to the ground. Even on snow and ice it takes serious effort to lose traction.
