Ok, about to go buy some factory 18's from a '07 Z71 right now. I'm going to get new tires so I just wanted to see what everyone thought of the tire size.

Factory comes with 265/65R18. I've read on the Z71 forum that you can fit 275/65R18 no problem. So I'm thinking if I step down to a 275/60R18 it should be fine. Thoughts?

The reason for this is the PPV Tahoe comes with 265/60R17's (29.5X10.4). Factory regular for 17's & 18's is 31.6x10.4 The 275/60R18 is 31X10.8 so it's a hair wider and a hair shorter. The reason for the shorter tire is 2 fold.

1, it does help lower the truck a tiny bit thus making it a tiny bit more stable, easier to get in/out of (for the wifey) etc. 2, speedometer is a hair fast so if my speedometer shows I'm going 5 over, I'm actually only going 4.

Also, since these are alloy rims there's no need to have them inspected for being straight or anything right? I've always heard that alloy rims don't bend they break, so if you see a split in the rim then you know there's a prob. If it looks good, then it's probably good.

Thoughts?

Bump??

Anyway, latest is I bought the rims. Turns out they were in crap condition but I got them for cheap, so now I am in search of an alloy wheel repair company that can fix the curb rash and couple of dented areas on the lip of the rims.

I called Discount Tire and they assured me that a 285/60R18 would fit with no rubbing issues, and that it shows it as an alternate compatible size in their computer. (Same height as stock, and

Has anyone else tried this size on a factory 18" rim? I just don't want to have any rubbing issues, especially when I lower it (Pedders 2/3 drop, one day).

285/60/18 is a theoretical 31.46 inches in diameter which is should fit, but I am not sure about the width. Since you are stock, you may have rubbing issues. FYI, I have 2.5" front and 1" rear spaces and I had to trim a lot to fit 285/65/18s.

So it looks like I never updated this thread. I did end up getting 285/60R18 tires and they have been working great for almost 2 years now with no rubbing issues, even with my Pedders 2/3 drop. They've worn great, have great traction and cornering.

I got the Falken Ziex which is labeled as an all season performance tire.

thanks for the update, I have been researching for about a month on if I should go 285/65 or 285/60 and this reassured me on the 285/60. I liked the 285/60 because it is very close to the dia of a stock 265/65 so there is only a .1 delta in MPH @ 60MPH. Plus I wanted a 2 inch lift but would rather not, so this tire fit the bill in my situation. Hoping for no rub, but ready to trim.
