i am wondering what tires would you recommend for my 01 tahoe, as i am planning to put 17 inch rims from a gmt900 (i can put a link to the exact wheels if needed) and i just want a good, quiet street setup that looks good, especially with a lowering kit.

"Looks Good" - Can you be more specific regarding what looks good to you? Some folks like the aggressive off-road look, even if they do not go off-road. Other folks just want to fill the wheel wells. Etc.

A great street tire that performs well, rides quietly, and lasts for 70,000 miles is the Michelin Defender LTX M/S tire. It is a bit pricey, but it lasts, making the cost per mile quite reasonable.
