Wife was driving around the court square in town and a guy in a ford transit decided to floor it backing out as she was coming behind him. I swear I have 0 luck. Please ignore the dirt/mud the weather here has been great on weekends and I carry the family out to the river every weekend. Had not washed up from yesterdays trip.

that's about 5k+ at a shop, if you pull the parts, shop the new replacements online and prep it yourself for paint you could save about 1/2 cost
bumper cover
fender
headlight
wheel
lower valance looks good still
IF the bumper cover doesn't have any broken tabs/clips it could be saved and refinished.

He was at fault and report wrote to reflect it. My insurance said it should be open and shut for his to pay up as its clear. If they argue mine will pay out and go after his.

I had figured at least 5k minimum. The valance other than being popped on the corner there is fine but may swap it to the police version as mine scrubs all the time. Very corner tab of the bumper cover is ripped out. Ill let his pay out and just have it all replaced with genuine parts and while the body shop has it once they have a opening let them do a full paint clean up job on it. Has not even been back on the road long from the trans rebuild and now this. Also while the pic does not show it really the tire is shot as well. Sidewall is slightly bulged and also pushed in right at the hit.

I have had a enough "fender benders" to be able to guess an estimate pretty close, body shops are money makers for sure, my ol'lady rear ended someone about 3 years ago, figured it was also probably 5k at a shop and we only had liability on that one, I ended up fixing it for about 1500 in parts got lucky and found a used hood the same color, used bumper and brackets, etc, bent stuff back straight, only had to buy the upper and lower valance new

You need to try the Nano Magic cloth. You won't even need to go thru with the claim. Works bad a$$, read the reviews on the link below. Hope no one was hurt.

I would look at this as a free opportunity to pimp your ride. New Z71 bumper, Black Color matched RST grill, some cool aftermarket headlights, if you have any left over cash get some new wheels and tires.

When someone backs into your lemons, you make lemonade :)

Sux Bro! - Sorry to hear - sometimes life is a pain in the ass. At least it's all just cosmetic.

I have had several myself in my younger years. But I have also had 1 deer strike on this thing to learn its cost. But thankfully I keep full coverage and the other guy owns a local restaurant that does well and he is well insured so I should be able to have things as they should be with a few changes for the better in the looks department.

No one was. My wife had the 3yo in the 2nd row in his seat. She said he just looked shocked and asked what happened but he was fine. She herself was fine as well. She was just panicked about me when I got to the scene and how I would react to the other guy.

The RST grill is already on the list of to do if at all possible. I just looked at a 2020 RST premier today anyways along with a 2021 high country just to see what I liked. Not a fan of the 2021 rear end.

I do plan on upgrading bump0ers as well. I want tow hooks or may go with a ranch hand. I love the look of some of the aftermarket lights but the lenses never seem to last like factory. Any you recommend for quality? Also it only needs 1 wheel so I likely wont get new aftermarket ones at the moment. I plan to get them after lowering with a belltech kit later on. For now though I may get them cleaned up good and powdered gloss black.

One word of caution, or a suggestion from me, regarding the handling of the insurance claim by the insurance companies.

Watch the accident case progression through the insurance companies very closely, to ensure that the final case settlement has the other driver 100% at fault, and your wife at 0% fault. My wife had a similar experience, and everything sounded OK at the scene of the scene of the accident and exchange of insurance information. Unfortunately, the other driver later stated to his insurance company that my wife actually caused the accident by hitting him (which was clearly not the case), and the two insurance companies finally settled by agreeing that BOTH drivers were at 50% fault each.

This was a win-win for both insurance companies, as each paid for only 1/2 of the total damage costs, and then both insurance companies got to raise the premiums for both drivers, as they were both at fault. Of course, it was a lose-lose for my wife.
