Really doing this since my left rear door speaker started popping on me the other day so one visit to Crutchfield netted me this combo:

Head Unit: Alpine CDA 9886
Door Speakers (Front & Rear): Polk Audio db 651s 6-1/2" Slim 2-way Speakers
Rear (Above Cargo Doors): Kenwood KFC-415C 4"x10" 2-way Speakers

Hopefully this will be a good step up from the stock junk thats been in there. Oh, I also have my iPod Touch I need to mount somewheres too so any ideas would be appreciated up front. One of my real big questions is... what ever do I end up doing with my factory tweeters? Rip em out? Leave em in? I have not clue. Ideas?

Thanks in advance guys.

Mike

Should sound A LOT better and louder than your old stockers. What about subs? A couple 8's or 10's would really round your system out. Could even mount them under the seat too if you were worried about space. However you would need an amp too so it kind of starts to add up.

For the iPod, is it front or rear usb connection on the head unit? I have a touch too and I just put it where my old stock CD player was, but in a few weeks im gonna be routing it into the glovebox. I have a Kenwood eXcelon head unit and it has the rear usb. Love having everything hidden.

Funny you mention subs... I had 2 Alpine Type R's that I sold last week to recoup the cost of everything else not that money was an object but just not into the sub woofer thing anymore. I just want loud clean clear rock and roll.

The Alpine has the rear output and a 6.5 foot extension cable on it... was thinking about the glove box or my center console since I really don't need access to the iTouch with the controls on the H/U now. Just trying to see what other might have done.

you can put your itouch anywhere glovebox center console cd pocket but if your not into big subs anymore you still should add a set of 8s atleast to fill that bass note. a set of 8s wont be real loud but will sound really good if you set it up right..mids and highs sound good by themselves but you always need the lil bass note just a thought
