Been hunting a Dana 44 or a Dana 60 for a solid axle conversion on a 1997 tahoe.
found this one. Seems high to me. I realize its a good axle and the correct one as far as I can tell, but seems high at $800.

Nothing around here in the junkyards other than 2000 year and up Dana 60s from Ford HD trucks...they're all $800 and up. And those are it as far as driver side drop units...No I don't want to swap the 241C for a passenger side drop unit.

5 lug knuckles, flat tops, 8 lug disks, full length, uncut.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

I mean it looks clean and solid but is he selling it high because he is 100% it's perfect shape or been rebuilt. Or is he just another idiot who wants more than its worth because he knows what people want it for. I mean he even went so far as to post it as a sas selling point.

agreed James. It's original parts except for new ball joints. Flat tops haven't been machined yet. I think I can do better. He texted tonight and said he has several other offers. I told him good luck.

Nothing's been done. It's dismantled for some reason. He's unsure of the mileage. I think I'll keep looking

So 800 basically for a bunch of pieces that make up the axle you want in relatively unknown condition. Ya that sounds a little high and a chance to drive all the way to it just to find out its actually junk

Yeah sounds too high. I used to see them around Houston a lot but that's a good drive for you.
