So I went to my local installer/friend. We started talking about what I could use to replaced the POSe system (I mean Bose system.) so I decided that I'm gonna run a component system (mmats 641) for the front and very rear speaker in the rear "A" pillar I guess you would call it. Mmats 6.5 coaxial in the back doors. Now what I am asking is if anybody here who as already done a full swap. Advise me of any foreseen problems I may encounter. Appreciate the heads up. Also gonna add 2 sa-8 v2 subs to the mix later on down the road.

Happy trucking!!!!!

I did a complete swap of the entire bose system. I went with an 8" 2-way components in the front with the tweeter in the stock a-pillar location. 6.5" coaxials in the rear doors, and 3.5" coaxials in the back rear pillar, and 2 12's behind the second row (no third row used). Your definitely going to run into a lot of cutting to fit 6.5" components in the rear, if it is even possible, especially if your trying to keep everything hidden behind the pillar. There is really no room back there. The rear serves as a very light rear fill. I ended up changing mine out with a 3.5" coaxial, but they are only running off the head unit power. The rest of the speakers are running off a 4 channel running active the front speakers, 2 channel to the rear coxials, and mono amp to the subs.

No....I'm doing 6.5 in the back doors. Just replacing the stock 6.5 with aftermarkets not the back gate. And in the rear pillars I'm gonna do 4's or 3.5's

ok, i was confused i guess. I thought you said your running 6.5 components for the front and rear back, by rear back i thought assumed the rear D pillar, which has the stock 3.5 inch bose speaker in it.

The install is very straight forward then, you shouldn't be running into anything. Basically its just a straight swap. For what it's worth, the door speakers have a weird shaped speaker in them, so making some baffles to mount the new speakers in will help seal the door up. I mounted mine first with making a baffle, and I lost a lot of midbass. After the baffle, it sealed up the opening at the top and bottom of the opening, and dramatically improved my midbass.

Yeah...I'm pretty excited. I want to pull out the old amp and reuse the some of the space under the console for my mids and highs. Saw some pics. Going to try to work everything out.

There's a lot of space under the console, especially if you are removing the stock bose enclosure. I had the JL Stealthbox under the console, and there was still room for the bose amp to stay in place. After i sold the stealthbox, i used the open area to mount an additional amp, and I didn't have to remove the bose amp either.

Yeah.....that's exactly what I plan on doing. I'm taking all that Bose stuff out. Now would I have to add an extra speaker that would strictly be for my on-star. Or would it play through the after markets.

I had to use a Pac Audio moduel to retain all the factory chimes and onstar functionality. I'm not sure what module is for the 2010, but they should have it on their site.
