Am on the market for a Tahoe 4 wheel drive, all the ones I found they are a couple hours from me.

If I was to buy one I will rent a dolly and tow it home. I know the best way will be with a trailer but my trailer tires are shot, need all tires replace.

What's the proper towing procedure with a dolly?

Thanks.

Wow, not much action on this site!

From what I found out in another sites, to tow it I would have to remove the driveshaft from the differential and tie the loose end to the frame , tape the u joints caps together to keep them from falling out.

The Tahoe I was looking to buy was sold, hopefully I find one closer to me so I can just drive it home.

Just rent a trailer instead of a dolly. Won't have to mess with unhooking anything and thats worth the higher rental for the trailer over the dolly to me. Think if its raining or something :nono: not fun. Good luck on the search.

For what its worth, you were right on the unhooking the driveshaft from the rear diff and strapping it out of the way so it doesnt contact anything even with suspension travel.

Thank you Mizzouguy,

I found another one that is a little closer to me, this one I can just drive it home if I buy it.
