Towing with a 2007 Yukon XL 2500

Personally, I love the ride in my 2008 2500. Not harsh at all, but not floaty either. I have Bilstein 4600 shocks, and they made a big difference in controlling porpoising while towing. Rides as good when empty as it does when fully loaded. Most of the unwashed/unknowing passengers I carry have no idea it's a 2500.

And +1 on the '08 and newer with the 6L90. Huge difference, those extra two gears.

I tow an 8600-lb travel trailer all over the country, and one of the reasons I bought it is because I can overload it a bit without breaking anything.

If I can drag an 8600-lb trailer up to the Eisenhower Tunnel (elevation 11,000 feet), you can tow a 9000-lb boat for 50 miles a few times a year.

My Duramax rides really stiff. It has a Plow Prep package means it has stiffer torsion bars in front. I had an Avy 2500 so I know how they ride. Its not cushy but its better than the Duramax. I had air bags on my Avy and rode really well while towing.

Intheburbs- I agree the Bilsteins are great. I put them on my AVY and have them on my Duramax - in the rear- will put them on my fronts too- waiting for weather to break in MICH.

Well I took the Duramax for a 160 mile trip and actually was somewhat pleased with the ride. I had lowered the tire pressures to 50 psi all around.

Guess I will keep it for a while.

The sticker on the door of my 2500 says 50 front and 71 rear. I keep the tires at those pressures and the truck rides very well.

I have a 2007 2500 4x4 suburban with factory 4.10's and tow a 10k 39 ft camper all the time. I wish I had the 6l90 but the price I paid for this one vs one with a 6l90 was 1/2 so I live with the 4l80. I tow at 60-65mph and it does great except for the crappy 7-9mpg.

Thanks miny- for the answer. The simple truth is I would be towing very little. The 2007 Yukon XL 2500 I am looking at is really clean and has 3.73's I could put 4.10 in it for $1500 just so it would tow my boat easier. I only tow it 2-3 times a year. Hell I could rent a dually from Enterprise. The Duramax is really not being put to use.....

Well I went and looked at the 07' XL and it was rough. The first thing was the airbag sensor light. Mechanic said "they all do that".... I have never seen it I explained. No way was I test driving a vehicle w/ airbag light. Owner of the lot says he may/maynot fix air bag sensor. So search goes on.

Reminds me when I went looking for 2500s. I rode my bike out to cincy with the intention of closing a deal on a 01 2500 with an 8.1...well the lot wouldn't meet me in the middle so I walked. Oddly enough there was another place with a burb 2500 with the 6.0 I think it was. He told me there was an issue with the electronic suspension ahead of time becuase it had been converted to coils. Ok fine. But that dash looks like a Christmas tree. CEL, brake, abs, airbag and check suspension were all bright as day. I took it for a test drive but only to soothe my curiosity of how big a piece it truly was. The answer is large. It was a large *************.
