Tpms light question

I recently ordered and received my 24's for my truck. I purposely ordered them without sensors because I found a set for $60 as opposed to paying $200 from the shop. The weird thing is yesterday I put them on to make sure they fit ok and was going to my local tire shop to have the sensors mounted, but my tpms light didn't come on in my dash. I have an 08 and I thought the tire pressure light would be on until I got the sensoRs mounted. Any ideas?

Trust me I have driven for a little ways without sensors and no light then it will just show up.
