So my brother has an 03 Escalade and for the last year or so, when pulling away from a stop the "traction active" message will pop up on the dashboard and the truck will only accelerate really slow; either the brakes are coming on, or the power is being dramatically reduced. If you let off the gas, the message goes away and you can accelerate normally again.

It only happens maybe once every 20 stops or so, and if you disable traction control using the button the dash it doesn't happen at all.....Which is what my brother has been doing for the last year or so. He did recently replace both front hubs (to solve another issue) and it made no change to the "traction active" thing.

Today, my 06 Escalade started doing the same thing - so I figure it's about time to identify the issue and get both trucks fixed.

Anyone familiar with this issue? Since both our truck do it I figure it's gotta be pretty common....

sounds like the abs module on the pump went bad, its fixable.

if you have a bluetooth ubd2 scanner already theres a free abs scanner works with your phone. ive dl'ed it it works great, even shows codes in history and can clear them. id scan it first see what codes you got, clear them, then what ever code comes back is the one you need to fix.
