I'm new, and I can't find this issue in a search.

2007 Tahoe. While driving, the truck shuddered a little and then the traction control/stability control light came on, the check engine light came on, the tach quit reading (stayed on 0), the alt quit charging (volts dropped to about 12 V on gauge), and A/C comp clutch cut out. All at the same time. When I got to a light I cut it off and waited about 15 sec and turned the truck back on. It had a long cranking period and then started. Same issue. Took off, and 1st to 2nd was harsh shift.

It only left a P0335 Crank Sensor code. No others. It sat for 20 min and then started fine. No check lights, alt charging to 14 V, A/C working fine.

Anyone seen this before?

Can't believe motor didn't shut down? Bad / loose grounds seem to be major culprit in multiple electronics randomly failing at the same time.

I've had the prob as you and was cam sensor, except motor shut off happened also, and would start right bak up.

The crank sensor failing sounds good enough to cause this prob, just seems odd motor didn't shut off also, or I'd did and your just saying motor was already shut down, and you turned the key the rest of the off?

The crank sensor is behind the starter

Thanks slocaddy.

I was thinking PCU just because so many things cut out at once (ac clutch kicks off, alt stops charging, trac control, crank sensor, trans shift harsh).

So you had the same issue? The Tahoe didn't cut off, just shuddered for a sec when it happened. I may have to track down a wiring schematic for the grounds and check if they (alt, comp, crank sen) have a common link.

So if you had this same issue, the Crank Sensor fixed it?

Thanks again,
John

Mine was a cam sensor, however I belive they both operate similar in that , if the pcm loses "signal" it thinks the key has been turned off, It doesn't know the the difference, just there's no reading from the sensor. Maybe search on what happens when crank sensor fails? Post what you end up finding, good luck
