I want to do both over the next week. The trans has a drain plug but I hear horror storys of them stripping. Would it help to have it warm so the metal is expanded and easier to remove fluid. Any suggestions? Also what fluid and how much?
The radiator should I flush it or just drain and refill. I have never flushed a radiator so some tips on it would be great

If you have access to a good impact gun, the tranny drain plug comes off REALLY easy.

I prefer to do a flush, that way you flush ALL the old fluid out of items like the cooler, torque converter and the valve body. But you will need a machine to do a full flush, or I think there is a write up on how to disconnect the cooler line and use the trannies pump to flush. It will cost more up front, I just did a flush on my Denali and I think we ended using another quart or two over the 16 that I bought. But that I way I know I am not adding all that expensive fluid to dirty old fluid, which is a waste of money in my opinion.

My drain plug was rounded off when I got the Yukon. Drop the pan and change the filter anyway. Tear it apart (filter) and look inside the element. It will tell you if stuff is coming apart. I change my filters every other trans service. I use Amsoil ATF. Very good product.

Is the coolant orange? If so get that crap out of the system. Do a complete flush. Remember to turn the heater on as to flush the heater core and those lines front and rear if equiped. Google the process, its not hard.

Was this a joke ^^^^^^

If you were referring to my post, no, I was not joking. If the plug hasn't been removed since the factory, it's sealed with the stronger permatex. Even if you have to take it to a buddy's garage for the impact gun, loosen it and manually re-torque it to 15-20Ibs. It will take you 2 seconds and save you a lot of time and headache.
