2009 Tahoe. 254,000 miles. Friday we was on our way home and it felt like a slight miss a couple times but didn’t think anything about it. Saturday drove it around town with no issues. Sunday drive it to town and went to leave down and went to climb a hill and it fell on its face. It did not want to pull at all. About mid ways you the hill after the speed dropped from 70 and was going about 35 it started killing agin and I got it upto 70 and coasted it into a gas station. It wouldn’t move at all. I got out and you could smell a strong burnt like odor. I checked the transmission fluid and it was darker in color. At this point I’m just a a couple miles from the house. It won’t go in reverse or drive. I wait and I try it again after about 10 minutes go by and it takes off in drive. I get it to move upto maybe 45-50 and it falls flat on its face again but I was able to coast it into the driveway. My thought is the tranny is toast and needs replaced but I always hear odd stories where it was something different. Any idea or confirmation on my thoughts of it being toasted? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, you got your money's worth, it's time for an overhaul. Seems like the pump went or the TC clutch took out the pump and that was that.

Thanks. I was figuring it was but wanted a for sure. Yeah it was a good run on it. I’ll probably rebuild it. Any suggestions on rebuilds? Anything to make it stronger? I do pull a boat during the summer on the weekend about 3 hour round trip. Boat probably weighs around 3000 lb
