i gotta 94 2dr yukon auto trans. the problem is that when the car is cold the gears change normally but as the car gets hot the gears tend to rev. its like after driving for 20 mins during the day and i pullover at a stop light and change the gears there is hardly any response, the gears are reving. i showed it to a couple of guys, some say it needs a transmission overhaul and other say the gear cooler along the radiator is clogged. i dont know what to do.

one more thing i opened the radiator cap once after driving and then tried it the car was running normal. i checked the radiator its all good but too much pressure in hose. i dont know if it the radiator is related to transmission.

what do you say guys???

Yay! Tranny problems....

Well, from what I understand about these kind of transmissions, is that the OE transmission oil cooler (little radiator thing in front of your a/c condenser and engine coolant radiator) are not good enough to properly cool your transmission after prolonged use.

Many people with these trucks buy heavy duty aftermarket trans. oil coolers that work a lot better. Some people will even tell u to rebuild the transmission or even just install a shift kit with an updated valve body and deeper tranny pan to keep things cool.

Try to do a search of these forums and see what other people have done to fix this common problem. Good luck!

I don't think the 94 came with an external cooler for the tranny stock. My 95 4 door with the towing package didn't ... I added one in after I rebuilt my tranny.

My bad! I did not know this. Sometimes I think I have the oldest Tahoe. lol.

So, my guess would be, shahi, change the transmission oil and filter first. That would be the cheapest way to help it. In a worst case senario u would probably have to rebuild the whole transmission and install an oil cooler in the process like retorq did. So much to ponder when it comes to trannys....

Right on. If u do have a trans. oil cooler and decide to replace it, go with one that is rated for a bigger vehicle (gross vehicle weight). This should ensure proper cooling is taking place.

Good luck, man.
