Howzit everyone. I'm new to this so please do not judge me. Lol. Anyways, I'm having transmission problems with my 2004 tahoe. Its a 2WD(yes i know... why would i lift a 2WD. I get it all the time. Lol.) Well, i like the lookIt also has a 12" bulletproof lift + 3" bl. I'm running 24x14s on 38s with 4.88 gearing. I'm not much of a mechanic but i wanna know why am i going thru transmissions like crazy? For one, its a 2WD. Two, i do not burn rubber. N three, i just like to cruise with my truck n not do any crazy driving. Someone please have an answer for me. FYI, i went thru 7 transmissions since 2007 til now.

4 was used. 2 rebuilt. And the last one was built up to a stage 2. Whatever that is. The transmission guy said that a stage 3 would be for racing which i don't need. This last rebuilt one went in less than 2 months and got replaced because i still had warranty. So i guess that makes the transmission that i have in now the 8th one. Smh. Scared to drive it anywhere...

What seems to be going wrong with the transmissions? Same thing each time, or different?

The first time my trans went, the input cracked. Then this last rebuilt trans was also the input shaft. But the ones in between the first and the last, don't know what happened. Just swapped it out with used ones.

Sounds like something is out of alignment or the frame is bent. Craziest thing I have ever heard of. Are you doing the removal and installation of these transmissions?

You can see that used ones are cheaper but they don't last. Look at the time your spending working on this truck. You must be able to replace these with your eyes closed.

Lol. Yah. Was a ***** tho since i didn't have the right tools for the job. Smh. That's why this last time i just decided to have the shop do it. And they also warrantied my trans so that was a plus. Good thing cuz it went in less than 2 months.
