Two gagrages, one transmission specialty shop, confirm a transmission slip in my 2006 Denali with 46K miles. Both recomending remanufactured transmission or rebuild. How can such a young transmission be in such serious trouble?

GM's transmissions are the weakest link in the whole vehicle. My brother's truck had the transmission rebuilt, it was at 120,000, but sometimes they go early because like I said they are weak. Check this site out http://www.finishlinetrans.com/ I am sure some others will have more to say and know more than I do, but from what I have heard this is a good rebuilt transmission place. Be very careful who you choose to do a rebuild because my brothers truck's transmission has been rebuilt 3 times (on the shops dime)! The guy does not know what he is doing and sometimes trying to save money will just get you into more trouble.

Thanks for your comments. Just heard a third opinion--just took it to a local GMC dealer for diagnostics. They found the code and Service Bulletin that talked about a cracked solenoid cover (I think that's what he said). They pulled my pan and found that I did have the crack mentioned in the bulletin. Fix was about $600. The service manager said this may fix the problem, but that the torque converty may also need to be replaced. We are going ahead with the $600 fix and see what happens.

Hey guys sorry this is late for the thread, but I'm having tranny issues @ 83,000 miles on my 2006 and not sure what to do. Any chance you have the number for that service bulletin? Over the weekend my tranny wouldn't go into gear. Put it in drive and it was like it was stuck in third gear. Revs up and real slow off the line. No reverse. My durango tranny did the same thing two years ago and it needed a shift solenoid replaced. Which is what I'm thinking my tranny in my Denali needs. Mechanic says whole new tranny. But I have doubts. He's a salesman lol. Any chance I could get that service bulletin to show him?
