So, ive started camping lately and this past weekend i went 2 hours away to camp but about 20 minutes before arriving my truck starting acting up going from 4th to 3rd and then natural so i pulled over right away to find the bottom of my truck bathed in trans fluid. So let the engine cool off for about an hour and thankfully i had some trans oil left from when my mechanic did the transmission service when i bought the truck 20k km ago. So i topped the transmission back up with oil and back on the road i went. Then i didn't get any issues untill i drove back and the same thing happened like an hour in. So i got home after repeating said process for the second time without an issue. Now im wondering that maybe my cooling lines are clogged but just incase i wanted to check if anyone here knew if the 97 yukon 5.7 has a pump to force the trans oil through the lines that might have bit the dust?

Oh and yes it is spitting the trans oil through the transmission breathing tube so i imagine the oil is boiling and escaping through the breathing tube.

Other then that, transmission works perfectly in the city, smooth shifts and drive to work every day for 30 min in 20c+ weather and traffic but never done it in the city so its just in long trips.

Perfect! Is there any way to figure out if the pump is actually dead brfore i bring it to the shop? Would like to ask the mechanic to just do a full flush to clear the cooling lines if the pump isn't dead and save a few hundreds. If there isnt a way ill just get him to fix the issue no matter how much it costs but if i can find out that the pump is still working and its just clogged lines id love to do so :)

if you can drive it the pump is working. but you do have a pump related or overheating issue iirc. get it to a shop. carefully. but towing is preferred to prevent any further damage.
