I do not think that GM requires the dealers to update all the modules to the latest calibrations available during PDI. This, I think, is a failure on GM's part. Especially early in the lifecycle when they are clearly making software improvements.
My opinion is that a good dealer would check these things and to it anyway, and then check them when they are in for service regularly; and advise on any critical updates. But, I do not know dealers get paid by GM; so the probably don't want to spend their tech's valuable time on things that won't be reimbursed...makes sense...but not great for the customer experince.
