I've tried this product out a couple weeks ago, as there were a good number of positive comments about it in one of the Detailing Forums I'm a member of.
Figured what the heck, let's try out this over the counter product and see what the results are?
Did my Kia Spectra's Hankook Optimo 727 Tires. The kit comes with a Tire Cleaner Spray, Sponge Foam Applicator, Flip Top Bottle of the Tire Coating, and a pair of cheapo disposable Gloves. Kit was $13.99 from Wally World.
The Coating does contain a Black Dye.
Simply use the cleaner and repeat as many times as necessary to get the rubber perfectly clean. It took me 3 scrub downs, 2 with the TW Cleaner, and once with Purple Power neat to get other previous durable dressing products off. (Opti-Bond Tire Gel)
The Coating dries to the touch, no sling, doesn't attract dirts, and seems to shrug water well after drying. I applied 2 coats.
While I haven't thrown a multitude of soaps, pressure washes at these tires yet, nor been through torrential storms yet, this product seems to work very well, and two weeks later my tires are still looking great, look clean.
I'm gathering that simple washes with a mild car soap will be all that will be necessary to clean and maintain.
There is enough Coating product to do the tires multiple times, or to do more than just one vehicle.
Seems like Turtle Wax is starting to make some better products here and there.
I understand that they do also supposedly make an Endura Trim Coating as well.
