Hello Guys. How you all doing?

My Journey with my Yukon!!

I few months ago i got my Yukon Back. with blown Head Gasket, so i thought. two days ago i started removing the Upper/Lower Intake and CYLINDER HEADS.

When i started working on my CYLINDER HEADS I notice Cracks. 1 CYLINDER HEADS has a hairline crack. the other got a HUGE Crack.

Now I need to purchase two head from AutoZone. $301 Each. FU@CK. Anyone here got a .062 Heads laying around?

I have never replace a head before. How can i know if my old Bolt Pattern will be the same with the new CYLINDER HEADS?

and yes. I have check the Cylinder/piston individual and no Cracks on the Wall. I have also Fill the Cylinders Wall with oil and Still there.

One of my Piston is damage on the Edge. I assume this NOT normal. So just to make sure. I Drop the Piston all the way down and FILL it with OIL. its been 2 days and OIL is STILL Inside... Can i Still Use this ENGINE? How is this Going to affect me later in the future?

Again guys. Sorry for my grammar/English.. My English still SUCK... I will post a picture of the Damage Piston. The damage is on the EDGE of the piston Near the Cylinder Wall

---------- Post added at 09:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:41 PM ----------

Check The Corner.. Like i said. I Fill it with OIL, left it for 2 days and Still Their. I really Don't want to buy a new engine. for something like this.. Let me Know. what you think guys

Rual welcome back as long as that piston dent or whatever it is is not causing damage to the wall you should be fine. The heads from auto zone will be re-manufactured units. For $300 each plus shipping if any you can get brand new GM heads from jegs. All new castings and parts and pure gm. http://www.jegs.com/i/GM+Performance/809/12558060/10002/-1

I went thru he same issue this issue so check out my thread below for details and pics. it is several pages long. http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26610

How about some pics of your head cracks and head gaskets. Mine blew between cylinders 4 and 6. you will see it in my thread.

Which cylinder is it? Is that the exhaust side?
Looks like cylinder erosion due to lean condition or cracked rings, or ring gaps all lined up there.

Love to see the head from that cylinder.

Hey listen...Piston is cracked check the valves, hate to spend that kind of bucks and have it tap a valve.

GO ON FULLSIZECHEVY.com there a fet sets of VORTEC heads laying around. I don't know the route your going with your truck but that is a great time to upgrade the top end of the engine. I wish I did, but didnt have the funds at the time. I hate doing work twice! :(

the link to my issue is fixed in my previous post. the 062 number you are seeing is the casting and part number for the bare head itself. When you get it from jegs it is assembled with valve train components added. that is when it becomes part 060.

Autozone is not really new everything that can be cleaned and re-used is. So as for as the head casting is concerned it could have been on several engines before making it way to you. The gm unit from jegs is a brand new casting and parts. Nothing has been previously used.

That second and third pic ... there is something clearly wrong with that cylinder ... the best thing to do is pull the engine and do it the right way. If you put a head on that you are just wasting money ...

I really Wish i could just rebuilt the Engine. But I don't have the cash. the way i see it. It only **** me about 2 days to take everything apart. If this Crap happen again. at least i know what it could have been the problem.

I will just put a new head and see how far this will take me!!! if that cylinder give up. I will just replace or rebuilt the engine and Re-use the head. Iam going to Lost $110 on Full Gasket. But Rigth now i dont have the Cash and the Tools to rebuilt the engine..

I Hope that cylinder hold compression. I have clean that cylinder and Fill it with OIL. and its been 1 week. and the OIL never drop. STILL THEIR

If you put a good head over that cylinder you run the risk of destroying that head. You broke the piston and it looks like the piston ring is damaged. If other piece of that piston or ring comes off and bounces around in the cylinder for any amount of time you will damage the head beyond repair. Oil holding in the cylinder doesn't mean the cylinder is going to hold compression ...
