I have an 09 Tahoe and have really enjoyed driving it up until recently when things have started to wear out. Dash cracked, console lid vinyl cracked, power window switches fell through, AC is losing it's cool, brakes are starting to shake even after recently changing all rotors and pads, and several whines and rattles have popped up.
So yes I may have put off some things that should have been fixed, but at what point do you say I'm done replacing part after part and buy a new or newer model Tahoe?
I struggle with this since it's nice not having a car payment, but the regular repairs are not so fun.

It's certainly going to be cheaper in the long run to just fix the Tahoe and if you set aside the money you would spend on a new car every month, you could have the Tahoe fixed in a couple months. After that, the money could be used for maintenance, upgrades, or whatever you want.

However, there comes a point when you're mentally done with a vehicle and if you have the means to get something new, it may make you happier than fixing the old one.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

My theory is if you have it paid for, and you like not having a payment, and you obviously like the vehicle (since youre looking at new Tahoes), repair it. Want it done cheap, bring it to me in Houston lol.

Good point Dale. I should just fix everything and then I won't have anything to complain about. I guess all of the folks who would trade it in have already done so and are now in the 2015+ forum. :)

All that can be fixed by yourself with help from here and Internet. Even if you paid someone to do it, you won't have that $500+ payment a month for the next 5 years.
