So I want to replace the engine & transmission on a 98 2dr! But instead of just stock replacement... I want a more powerful (not a 9mpg car) which can still be used as a daily driver... is there such a thing?! with a budget around $10K~ (new parts only) hopefully will start a before/after post soon.

I'm located in Houston, so other half of the battle is finding a good shop to do the job!! Any input appreciated..

As I mentioned in your other post...an LS/LQ-9 swap from an Escalade or Denali will make a great base. If you want the thing new...go all the way thru the engine/ transmission and customize it to meet you needs.

How about taking your existing 350 and having it built into a 383 stroker. For transmission, get a 4L80E. If the rear end goes out, put the 14 bolt semi-float axle from a 3/4 ton pickup. Then you would have a rock solid drive line. I have a 383 stroker motor in my 98 2 door that I'm hoping to put on the road for the first time today. Had the motor built by a guy in Spring, TX. I did all the installation work myself. I have a built 4L60E transmission that I bought from PACT almost 4 years ago. I wish I would have upgraded to the 4L80E. I'll make that upgrade when my current transmission craps out (hopefully later rather than sooner).
