USB in Cig lighter Question

I know there is a post on this but could not locate it. I am having my avic5000-nex installed today and my installer is running a USB extension from the back of the unit to that area. Will this part accept a normal USB extension?

Just a heads up I had to buy right angle connectors to do mine. The plug on the USB cord was too long to allow the radio to fit all the way in the dash.

got it all set up! Weird thing when i use the steering wheel to change tracks on USB or CD it just goes to the first track and will not advance. Using a avic5000nex
