I think the timing was too aggressive. It was in the high 30s low 40s at cruise. We put ten gallons of Mobil's 93 from a station we do not normally use and later that day went back to our regular high volume station and added another 14 or so of the same. Alcohol content running at 4%.

The motor is clean, the LTFTs are near zero now, the MAF was cleaned twice this year though the TPS at idle is between 7-8%.

Do you have EFI Live?
Yes I do.

So is this something that black bear "programmed" that you think shouldn't be? Or the effect of a problem in the truck?

I don't know. I flashed the old tune back in and will run a log with the AutoCal when we go to church tonight. Shame on us sinners, we missed Sunday School and Morning Service! I can't get any of them out of bed this morning! I'm being nice though, not like my usual self which is akin to Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, without the cussing!

I would try a sea foam upper engine cleaning by sucking a can into the intake to clean any carbon off the pistons. May be a hot spot of glowing carbon during lean cruise.
If it’s still there try some Lucas octane boost and highest octane fuel available and see if it helps.

How much timing do you have during cruise steady throttle, and at what speed and intake air temp? Good run and bad run. I’ll compare to what mine is on my last log.

On the last scan with the new tune, while cruising at 71 mph, the timing was 37-40 degrees and variable. IAT averaged 82 degrees.

Several weeks prior on the old tune, while cruising at 70 mph, the timing was 31-35 degrees and variable. IAT averaged 82 degrees.

I put the old tune back in but have only driven it a short distance. Should put at least an hour on it tomorrow though it will be city driving.

On this run I took a snapshot and graph with the Tech2 and only saw some torque management spark retard only when turning or driving through a parking lot. Got a couple degrees KR at one full throttle run from idle to 1-2 shift, didn't hear anything but could see it on the Tech2. Impatiently waiting for Justin's response! LOL What do they call it, 1st world problems?
