valve seal smashed mushroomed out

2000 Z71 with 5.7L V8 - what could cause a valve seal to look like it was smashed and mushroomed out like it exploded or popped like a kernel of popcorn?

can you pic it please?

i would gather that if is is smashed at the top it may have jumped off the guide and got smashed by the valve train as odd as that sounds or someone just screwed it up.

that is either from improper installation or possibly something wrong with the valve spring assemblies.
