Regular Dexron III is good enough. Would not use something that may be considered universal. Feels like your tranny would not get the full benefit of its own type of fluid. Unless gm says it endorses that fluid on technical grounds.

That article says Dexron VI is backwards compatible with Dexron III transmissions for our trucks.
