Vibrations update

ok so as many of you know ive been fighting a noise and vibration in the front end at highway speeds.. today i ruled out the front shafts u-joints and noticed that the drivers front axle where it enters the front diff does have some noticable up and down play..

could this be the noise and how hard are they to replace?

Did you try tightening the front shocks? The bolts on top can become loose, and even the slightest bump/dip will cause the bolt to jump up and come back down and smack the mount. Just look if they are loose.
