VLOM removed from valley cover

Deleted DOD. Plugged oil towers and removed VLOM from valley cover. Will this cause the engine to suck oil into the intake?

I'm confused... you did what?

removed the vlom solenoids from the cover and reused the cover instead of a flat one? if so, did you plug off the oil passageways in the cover to solenoids? if not, it not. that isn't good.

I'm not sure how oil would get inside the intake from the mods thou?

I drilled and tapped the 8 risers that supplied the VLOM. I watched a video of a guy that did the same thing. When he runs the engine oil is sucked out of the valley and deposits said oil into the intake.

you have the oil flow backwards. it's flows from oil pressure sensor port down into the engine thru those 8 ports you blocked off to the afm lifters. you'll have a major internal oil leak if you don't plug that.

I honestly have no idea about sucking the oil into the intake. maybe some other guys will help with that.

I don't see how it's possible to get it to the intake. 2007-09 6.2L just had a flat valley cover the blocked off the ports with o-rings. When they went bad, oil pressure would drop when hot......it never ended up in the intake.

The only way to the intake would be through the PCV system. Even with higher oil pressure/volume, I don't see this as being realistic.

so I'm half wondering if the oil passageways in the volm cover isn't plugged up up it sprays so much oil more of it ends up in the valve cover?


or it's just 2 different issues. my catch can catches some oil anyways?

my suggestion is to buy a flat non afm cover plate. they are cheap or you can buy a oil block off plug for cheap.

like this.

Factory AFM/DOD is designed to provide oil pressure via the VLOM towards the DOD lifters when activated and release back-pressure from the DOD lifters when not activated.

If you are disabling AFM/DOD and keeping the stock lifter you need to leave the towers unblocked so that no oil pressure exists at the towers to activate the DOD lifter unlock.

If you are doing a full DOD delete and replacing all the lifters with a non DOD lifter, you need to block the tower holes because non-DOD lifters will very likely leak oil out of the tower passages and lower oil pressure.

Also if you are deleting the VLOM solenoids, you need to block the oil pressure passage that feeds them, because they are under constant oil pressure and removing the solenoids will also cause oil pressure loss, unless you switch to a non DOD valley cover.
