I have read the horror story about driving in the rain already, and am curious as to what everyone thinks otherwise about the air scoop for the volant CAI. In theory it makes sense to draw even more into the intake. I have had bumper mounted scoops before on cars and it DEF made a difference. I do live in New England where MOST WINTERS it gets feccckkkin cold and I've heard that our vehicles don't like the cold so that could be a downfall of having a scoop, too cold of air......

my dad has the volant scoop on his truck and we have never had any issues with it. we live down in ga so weather doesnt get too crazy. but i dont understand how it can pull enough water to hurt the motor without a) submerging the opening or b) wide open throttle in the rain. i just dont believe the airflow would be strong enough pull water all the way to the motor at part throttle/low velocity flow.

I have it on mine and I'm lowered so at first I was a little worried but I haven't had any issues in over a year now.

thanks for the info guys, did you have the intake installed before you connected the scoop or did you do both at the same time? Just wondering if you noticed any difference in sound etc......

you shouldnt have a problem. they have a prefilter that go over the filter if your concerned about water. You do have to give up one of your recovery hooks to make it work.

I had the intake in without the scoop for almost two years because it rubbed on the passenger front tire when turning with the 24's. Once I sold the wheels I said what the hell and took off my tow hooks and threw it on, I noticed the difference right away especially the first cool morning and it felt like picked up a few horses. As far as sound there is a difference and I love the way it sounds, like a deep sucking sound.

thanks again for the info, installed the volant this morning. Def a nice setup! I'm really happy about NO HEAT ABSORBING metal on the intake. Will order the scoop and the prefilter this week, may as well.

Post back and let us know what you think once you get the scoop in. Any better gas mileage yet?

hard to tell, scoop should be here in a couple days. I'll fill up and see how it goes. Went to see TOOL at the casino last night and it was tough to not do 102 on the highway home.....

when ya stomp the skinny peddle it sounds like theres an angry bear under the hood, perfect sound for scaring ricers

Put the scoop in this morning, not as easy as it should have been. I was able to get the tow hook back in without any problems, trip up to mass tonight, we'll see how she goes.
