My 03 Z71 engine appears to have given up...... so why would i not put in a 6.0? I and am curious if the computer and fuel injection, wiring etc. will work.....
I am sure there are a thousand inquiries like mine, but I have 10 minutes until I have to log in by phone, and my mechanic wants to know what I want to do, and what I am capable of TODAY. The truck is on his lift, and I need your help. Can you folks 'tag' me or send me where I need to be? Is there an expert that can just blurt it out? My mechanic is on me like a wet blanket about what I want to do, and I am without answers..... This 41 year old fat beer drinker needs some direction.... Rumdog

The 6.0L is pretty much a direct swap I did it on mine and when my wife's engine goes we will be doing it on hers too! I did mine a few years back and work nights so I am tired but I memory serves me right you need a spcer / adaptor from engine to transmission hell the same headers bolt up to both blocks.

Yeah everything will work with it. , but yes you do need a adapter/spacer for between the engine and transmission.

What kind of adapter? I was under the impression that all GM v8's had the same bellhousing bolt pattern? I have a friend with a 4.8 in front of a turbo 400 and he has no adapter. I was contemplating this swap when my 5.3 takes a dump.

the spacer is only if you are going to a 4l80 trans. The spacer fits on the flexplate. If the stock 4l60 is being used with stock flexplate you shouldn't need it.

the crank is only longer on the older 6.0 with iron heads. That's what I found in all my reseach/digging for my swap.

also the 4l80 converters/flexplate are 6 bolt and the 4l60 is 3 bolt to so make sure you use the right flexplate.
