My '97 Tahoe has the stock radio with cassette player and separate CD player. What I want is different, but I'm not sure if it is available.

What I would like is a unit that fits in the current space, has AM/FM/Sirius-XM capability and into which I can plug my iPod and manage the playlist from the screen. Too much to ask?

I know these are available in the new car lines, and have actually used it on the new Chrysler 200's; it is awesome.

Anybody know if anything like this is available in after-market for my '97?

I have all that and more but I had to add several modules to get as far as I got. Look at my signature.

If you want to keep it simple maybe a Kenwood KDC-MP445U. Look fr it at Crutchfield but you may still need to add a tuner module for the sat radio.

Comparing your tahoe to a new car is not apples to apples. Must new cars with the feature you describe have double din radios. The obs tahoes are a din and half. You can modify your truck to fit a double din or go with a single din that have a flip out screen.

All newer radios with screens...have ipod connections.

Yeah there's several out there with the options you want. Just look around. What I do is look on sites like www.crutchfield.com and then check out ebay or craigslist for what I want since it's cheaper.

The good news is that unlike the 92-94s, you can put in a single din 7" flip out screen in the dash and it wont block any AC vents.
I have a Dual XDVDN9131 that I put in my 93 (sold truck) and am putting it in my 99 maybe this weekend. Maybe Ill take a pic when done.

What you're asking for is available in almost every headunit available today, so you shouldn't have to look too hard to find it. Doing some general investigating on Crutchfield's site posted above should help you.

Just to put this out there for anyone who might be interested. Start at crutchfield.com finding out what new lineups may have came out for your likings and then if you want to be safe go to www.sonicelectronix.com . I am not against ebay, but have been burned before on several different things and besides sonic will alot of time match ebay pricing. Also, sonic happens to have a store in ebay and it will get there very quickly comparing to ebay. Just my .02
