So I bought my Tahoe brand new with 31 miles on it, ever since new it has had a differnt smell from the RR corner after shutting it off? At first I thought it was just obviously because it was brand new and stuff. It has died down a little but it now has over 5100 miles on it and seems to still get a warm almost burning smell from REAR of vehicle. A customer at my shop came and asked me about his doing the same thing, we had just put new tires on it and he noticed it, since he was checking the tires out after driving for a while. His Burban is a 00-06 with like 125k+ on it.

Question is: Is this just a normal smell or is it something i should be more concerned about? I have put it on the lift at work and looked multiple times and have never seen anything rubbing against anything at all......hhmmmm?

Try different gas maybe? You're still under bumper to bumper warranty for 3 years from the purchase date. If it doesn't go away at 2 years 11 months, take it back to get fixed.

I have had similar happen in the past.
When I first got my Magnaflow exhaust I was getting a burning/egg smell from the exhaust after it was parked. The internals of the muffler had that same odor before I installed it. It stopped after about 3000 miles. The exhaust did not get installed until about 10000 miles.

I had this same experience when I had my 08 Tahoe and got a Magnaflow muffler.

I guess it's a common issue. I also got the smell when I upgraded to my smaller Magnaflow muffler. I guess it is due to the breaking in of the materials they use to pack it. The smell did get annoying though. My friends could smell it and I briefly thought maybe I should have got a Flowmaster.
As for the OP, if you do not have an aftermarket exhaust it is probably either your catalytic converter, or premium gas causing the issue.

My first Magnaflow muffler was just a bit smaller than the factory one.
My first one was 5x11x22 for just the muffler without pipes. Second one is 5x8x14 if I remember right.
