I have a 05 taho with 230km (142miles) the truck has been maintained great and lady driven and parked in doors all the time. the truck most want to find. I have drove it for 6 months now and did everything to fund a rubbing noise from the mid section of the truck. I changed diff fluid, inspected gears and lsd all normal wear. changed u joints just cause, changed the fluid in transfercase. ( the blue green shit) only aval from dealer. checked and rotated tires just in case. no change at all.

I think there could be something in the transfer case or pinion bearing.

when I am towing or loaded down the noise changes quieter. empty under load noisey.

any advice????????:boti:

The changes you made so far are good starting points, but there's a lot that could rub on our trucks. Your post brings a number of questions to mind for me...

Could you describe the rubbing sound more?

You mention that the sound is coming from the mid section of the truck, but can you localize the sound any better? Does it sound like it's coming from under or behind the driver seat? Does it sound like it's coming from the center of the vehicle or more from the driver or passenger side?

You mentioned that the sound gets quieter when you're loaded for towing. Do you notice that the sound changes in pitch or volume when you're braking, accelerating, or hitting bumps? How about when you turn left or right - does the sound change then? Does the sound occur when you put the transmission in neutral and coast down the highway?

I can describe mine fairly well.. seems under driver seat / center console.. starts around 25mph and increases in volume to around 50-60 where it plateaus.. tranny in neutral and engaging 4wd doesn't change sound..

sound is similar to a rock in a brake pad or a slipping serp. belt. The noise changes from time to time after an acceleration. (sometimes is louder or nearly non-existent)

The noise started on the second leg of a 750 mile towing trip. 2008 Tahoe LT pulling a steel frame car trailer (1200lbs) and a G8 GT (~4000lbs). Noise started after the G8 was delivered, about 100 miles into the second half the noise started.

I will have the truck in the air tonight to spin the drivetrain and try to more pinpoint the source. Any further info will be very helpful.

Update

After looking for a while I have found the rubbing noise. I had thought it may have been in the diff but wasn't sure. but replaced all the bearings in the rear diff and all the noise is gone. not a bad job to do ether. time and patience.
