My '08 Tahoe LT's air conditioning has been acting pretty weird recently. I've noticed about three things that happen:
1.) Occasionally the vents on the passenger side will start blowing really hot air while the drivers side will still blow cold air. The passenger A/C setting is not turned on, so both sides should be blowing the same temperature air. Even if I turn on the passenger air so that I can manually bring the temperature down, it continues to blow heated air out. My only option at this point is to turn the AC off and roll the windows down until I get a chance to park the truck. It usually works correctly again after turning the Tahoe off and restarting it.
2.) Every once in a while when the A/C is set to auto, all of the air will switch to blowing out of the windshield vent instead of any of the other vents. This happens more rarely than #1.
3.) Even when the A/C seems to be working "normally" (not exhibiting the problems in #1 and #2) the Auto function is a little bit off. It will blow cold air, but the fan doesn't really seem to slow down as the temperature inside the cab reaches the desired temp. I think normally the AC will blow air out at a colder temperature than your desired temperature and as you get closer to the desired temperature, the AC blows out slightly warmer air (closer to the desired temp). My truck seems to just continue blowing colder air at a higher fan setting so even if I set the setting to 72 degrees, I'll eventually get colder than that.
I'm assuming that all of theses problems are related. Any ideas what causes them or how to fix them?
In addition, my check engine light went off recently and the code indicated a problem with the throttle position sensor. I'm assuming that's completely unrelated to the A/C issues but wanted to mention it here just in case.
