Just bought a 1997 Yukon and the A/C is not working in it. When I first tried out the A/C the compressor was kicking on and off, so I tried charging it and it only took half a can. Now the compressor spins like it supposed to but the air is still hot coming from the vents. Does anyone have an idea on what to check? It's been in the 100's the last couple days so help would be awesome.

Anybody have some input?

could be a stuck Blend door. Nothing happens when you change the mode settings?

All the modes legs, dash and defrost all work as they should as does the heat when I turn it to hot. No cold air when using any of those.

get touchy feely with your refrigerant lines. when running feel what hot and cool or not. this will tell you if the refrigerant system working properly.

You need to put a set of gauges on it to properly diagnose. Could be over/under charged, bad compressor, bad cycle switch, etc.

So I have an update kinda, I was driving the Yukon today and noticed the rear A/C was blowing ice cold. The front started to blow maybe 5 degrees cooler than outside air. Does this mean anything?

your temp door in front may not functioning correctly. easy to test. after engine is hot you get hot air when set to hot and equal or lower to ambient air when moved to cold. if that works out fine i would think you just clogged the front evaporator orifice with leak sealer that may have been in the recharge can. the rear could still work just fine too.

The stuff I use doesn't have the sealer crap in it. I'm not sure if the PO did or not though. Where is the temp door?
