First of all Ill introduce myself. I'm Billy, recently inherited a 04 Yukon XL Denali. I might make an intro post later and tell a bit about the truck.

Anyways. I have the strangest auto unlocking issue. In my DIC i have automatic locking set to lock at 8mph and automatic unlocking set to "Unlock All In Park" and for the life of me it will not consistently unlock the doors. I tested it yesterday and it worked like it should, locked at 8mph and unlocked as soon as i popped it into park. Today, both when i got to work and when i got home it did not unlock in park.
I have noticed that when it doesnt unlock in park, if i turn the key off, then back on, it will then immediately unlock the doors. This bugs the hell out of me because for whatever reason, GM decided that the front door shouldnt open from the INSIDE when the door is locked. Also being from Detroit I prefer to have my doors locked while I drive, so setting them both to manual lock/unlock is not preferred.

Anybody have any ideas or have any similar experiences?

Isn't that the biggest pain in the ass?! I agree, its no too much to ask, but GM skipped class that day.
Welcome, but I am sorry I cannot help you. Maybe try changing the settings to something completely different and see if they work as you programmed them, if they do switch back. Its a shot in the dark, but it doesn't hurt to try :) I am wondering why it unlocks when you turn the ignition back on; strange.

Try taking off your drivers window switch off of the door and make sure both harness plugs have a good connection!! I know that when they don't, it can do what you mentioned since everything seems to go through that switch for some reason!!

its probably either a linkage issue, not engaging into park all the way. or its an electrical issue, again not seeing car go into park every time. try switching it to unlock in park, but dont do from drive to park in one swoop. instead let it see each gear, slowly and make sure it seats in the position.

as far as open door from inside while locked, it was explained that ford invented it and some pay royalties and some dont. i think a worker from ford assembly line invented it and gets a nickel for every car using it. not sure just some talk from some old hot rod builders
