Would it matter if I put new shocks on before or after getting an alignment ? Everyone I ask says they dont know or it doesnt matter. I feel like it matters if I'm replacing 15 year old shocks with new ones , but idk either.
Shouldn’t matter.

I think it matters. They shocks will change how the suspension sits.

Worn out springs will change how it sits but shocks shouldn’t. They’re not meant to do anything but absorb shocks , not support weight unless they have air bladders like some of the rears.

I put bilstien on mine and they ran positive pressure so they did change the way mine sat.

Went out to start the 06 last night after getting back in town with the 13. Truck had only sat for 3 days since last drive. No previous issues.

Doors unlocked with the fob, interior lights came on, turned the key, barely cranked, clicked, tried to wind down to nothing, clicked then started to crank and fired up. Voltmeter read 14. Let it run, then let it sit for 2 hours.

Same scenario. Took the battery to O'Reily's late last night to charge and test. Report is 1/4 life left. Interstate battery is at its 5 year mark currently and never given me trouble.

I ordered a battery on Cyber Monday just in case since it was $40 off, but a similar situation with a friends Yukon led him down this path. He replaced the battery, the alternator and finally found that it was likely the starter in the first place even after he switched stuff out.

I thought about trying the Suburbans new battery (different size and top mount as compared to the Tahoe side mount and tight spot next to the fuse box) just to see if that might give me another look before I buy that new battery or go down the new starter route.

Thoughts and input welcomed. Thx.

Same battery that had that corrosion issue on the terminal?

I would do the alignment after. Better safe. If it's going to be a while on the shocks but you know you need the alignment now, get a lifetime deal somewhere and do both before and after.

no way a shock i can push closed by hand is changing how high or low a car sits. if you some how installed coil overs then you could change ride height and need it aligned.

shocks dampen the ride, nothing else.

with that train of thought i should have had my truck aligned after i installed my new shocks. thats hog wash.

I’ve changed the shocks on my suburban 3-4 times since 05 and it hasn’t had an alignment in years and drives fine

Positive pressure? What’s that, on a traditional shock that has no air in it? I have Bilsteins too. They do not change how high my truck sits, believe me I know. I was running 26’s with close clearance to the fender, went from totally worn out shocks to new Bilsteins. Didn’t gain a fraction of an inch. They’re just dampers.

Put the old 17" snowflakes on for winter the other day before the snow hit. Just did the TPMS relearn for the first time. Used the old learn mode, run around and let air out method. Didn't get the honk on the fourth tire the first try. Probably just didn't give it long enough. Second go round was successful. Glad I saved the $20 on the relearn tool.... :p Will apply to the gauge face fund.
