Not sure if this has been discussed here before, but apparently after you hit 10,000 gallons of gas used your car stops counting.

I'm not sure if it can be reset or not, never tried... maybe with the DIC, maybe with the Tech2... dunno... guess I don't really care either... lol

You know what that is? That’s fu**in ********, that’s what that is.

Yeah it makes you feel taken advantage of for sure.

I am just hoping that maybe one of the others was defective and these don't turn out to be garbage also.

Unfortunately I won't really know until we get some "cold" weather again... which isn't looking very promising at the moment.

The next coldest night in the forecast is only supposed to get down to 47°.

Well, i removed the jack from the engine hoist, laid it on the side, pulled the jack piston out of there and stacked in some O rings.
on the tip there is a wiper looking seal that looked good overall, but I'm sure it's just old.
So i stacked a little o ring on the far end, pushing the seal towards the tip.
Seemed to expand it a bit as there is a ledge to keep it on there...

A wee bit up the shaft has a second seal, I assume that one is to keep fluid from escaping.
It was pretty freakin flat.

I added a o ring on the end of that, seems to be successfully pushing down on the seal and making it a little thicker.

I had to grease it up pretty good to reinsert, but so far no more leaks.
And jacking it up seems to be much more solid now!

I'm still deciding if i want to trust it or not... :hahano:

Well FML.

Let me tell you doing valve springs in the truck is not fun........make sure you have the right tool. The tool I was using worked great for the first 6 valve spring on bank 1 and 2 is fine........but cylinders 7 and 8......no chance in hell.

I ordered the other toll via Amazon and will be able to finish tomorrow.

Oh, and the tool I used only worked after I milled it so there was proper clearance to install the valve spring retainer keepers. I'll port up some pics in a bit.

Either way, experience, a level head and knowing when to tap out is the key to success. Plus having the valve spring pop out of the tool twice was enough for me to call it a day. Safety first.

Kind of disappointing. I was thinking you can reset it (like a trip odometer), because when I first got my truck, I think I reset it, then realized I wanted a long term running count and thought I would never really know exactly how much I had used.

I am getting up there, might be time to write down where I am at with total fuel used and see if I can reset it.

I like to be able to quote how many gallons I have used in total when I am around my more greenish friends. :)

yes, it can be reset. yes, it can be useful when on a trip or something where you want to keep track of how much fuel you've used.
