did you do the flush where you suck the res dry, take the return line off it, plug the reservoir. then fill it with fresh fluid, jack the wheels up and turn the wheel right and left with the engine off till clear fluid comes out?

I've not done this yukon cause it doesn't have a pump but I did the c6 cause that thing murders powerstering fluid even with the optional cooler. it took like a qt and a half, the Tahoe system must be huge to run a gal thru
I use a transfer pump and just empty the reservoir, re-fill it with fresh fluid, steer it back and forth a few times and repeat until it comes back out clear.
I don't like to mess with the lines if they are not leaking I just leave it hermitcally sealed less possibly for issue's later in my book, but some people take one line off and run it out that way.
the 2015+ are all electric steering so ours is the last gen to have a actual pump

ahh. I get it. the low pressure return I don't worry about sealing up. it's just a spring clamp and pull. haha.

yeah I've got the oddball 2011 with electric steering. if it goes bad it's a whole different level of issues haha. I get why this one has it. but I do perfer to have a belt driven pump if I can. even thou I am starting to see the Volvo electric pump being used more and more in performance world. kinda a middle ground of an electric pump with a standard fluid rack.

i always thought an electric pump would be nice just because you only need power at low speed, which is always low rpm. seems a waste to be spinning it rest of the time.

Installed my upfitter switch panel, but the backlighting doesnt light when connected to backlight wire. The indicator LED does work and dims accordingly. If I wire the backlight to the indicator dimmer, it works. But does not dim as low as the rest of the dash. Also, the light does not go out, I'm guessing it has something to do with the switch power being on constant (I have it wired to the INFO fuse) Might have to wire it to ignition power.

UPDATE: Reading about silicones that smell like vinegar, something about the curing producing acetic acid which will corrode copper on circuits. Need neutral curing silicone. I did silicone some blue bulb covers on the backlight LED's and it did smell like vinegar :(

Quick question regarding 92 octane ethanol free gas.

I buy it from a local specialty fuel place to run in all my pressure washers chainsaws weedeaters etc etc

I know it is best for all the small carbs and moving parts of fuel supply in small engines.

I am thinking about my upcoming tow of my 20 foot cargo trailer end of this summer headed back east to Ohio.

I live near Seattle so about 2 hour drive east is the Cascade mountain range I will be crossing on I-90.

My question is: Can I help my rig pull more efficiently going over the mountain pass by fueling up with the 92 octane ethanol free gas ?

I use 87 octane always from Costco. Will the higher octane rated gas give me a slight performance boost for the stressful tow up a mountain pass ??

May use the same strategy going over the Rockies.

I finally got around to changing plugs and wires on this thing. it ran fine but looking at the plugs and wires, I think they might have been original. don't look bad for 146k on them, but since I only got it last year, if they have 30k on them, not great lol. they looked worse than I expected for how smooth it ran.

idles a bit smoother
They probaly were OE.

funny I didn't even know we had one and then I noticed on the wix site they sold one with an asterisk about needing a kit installed to install it. checked and mine had already had it done, but when I pulled it out whoever put it in the top caught on something and they just jammed it on and it folded up. so it wasn't doing anything. glad I looked haha.

nice to have one. my 96 doesn't and the evap was gross.
