Today's episode of TemuforTahoe features a new liftgate handle switch as well as some goodies

After disassembly I noticed the switch had been disconnected all along. First install left me disappointed, but some WD40 contact cleaner resolved the issue. Works like a charm! Identical piece for about 9 bucks.
Side note; those 4 nuts and bolts for the handle are absolute genius! Washer and nut pressed as one piece with the washer still spinning freely. Also the bolt tip was designed as a torx head, most likely an anti overtorque feature. Very clever.

Window switch is 100% possible to replace from the outside even though I had the interior panel removed because of the other switch. Works perfectly, about 5 bucks.

And an air freshener for good measure.

Stay tuned for the next episode where I start messing around with parking sensors.

How dare you! ;)

can't hurt anything I guess. don't know how I'd judge if it did anything haha. View attachment 443613

I ran that for a cycle before yanking out my 5.3, so I can't speak to it's effectiveness. That 5.3 engine, with about 180k on it, consumed some oil and always came out dark after 4-5k oil change intervals along with running a catch can.

There's an interesting video about that oil on Lake Speed Jr.'s YouTube channel. It can't hurt the engine, so I say go for it. I'd probably run it now, but I still don't have 5k miles on the rebuilt 6.0.

yeah, I've seen his and a few other videos of guys trying it. I'm sure it can't hurt, don't know that it would really help either. but I saw it on the shelf and impulse bought haha.

mines got 163k on it. I didn't look this time, but I've stuck a bore scope down the valve covers and in the drain before everything still looked clean. still aluminum colored, not a lot. of that reddish tint look old engines seem to get.

it uses zero oil between changes and I disabled afm about 30k ago just to try and avoid failure. so whatever the previous owner used was probably good oil.

I just cut the filter open this morning. waiting for the oil to soak out of the media, but funny you mention how black yours was. until this time mine wasn't pitch black. Just a well used dark brown. this was the 2nd fill with that Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and man is it black. like almost diesel oil black. was a bit surprised.

I don't know if it cleaned out some stuff I've not seen, or if it just turned black from use. either way it was free and I only ran it about 3500miles. but I don't think I'll be buying any with my money. I really wish I'd have gotta a sample now.

the catch can had what seemed like a normal little amount in it.
