Just bought a 2002 Tahoe with 77k on it. Haven't owned a GM in forever. All suggestions for immediate maintenance and upkeep items appreciated. Vehicle needs a detail and had to change a horn fuse, right front t/s bulb and the damned too pricey CHMSL to get inspected in Tx. The Trans has been serviced previously according to p/o and i get new rear shocks delivered Saturday for the bouncy ride, no air suspension thankfully. Pcv, fuel filter,p/s filter, rear dif? let me enjoy some of your knowledge.

I would make sure that cluster is original to that truck and the mileage is accurate. Post up some pics of the rig.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

Change all fluids that you don't know when the last time that they were changed, and change all cooling system hoses.

Welcome to the forum and yes post some pics. As @Joseph Garcia said and @PNWYukon said, change all the fluids: Power steering, coolant, trans fluid and filter-unless you think it is ok as per the p/o, brake fluid, diff fluids, and transfer case fluid. I would silicone lube all door and window rubber seals. All filters except if the air filter looks good. All hoses and belts if original. I would also unbolt the brake master cylinder from the booster, leave the metal lines attached, and inspect for any brake fluid leakage at the back.

Can you specify on the "silicone lube all the door and window rubber seals"?????

Id for sure get under the front end, and grease all the zerk fittings, check the bushings, balljoints, tie rods, shocks. Change rear diff fluid, inspect all other common fluids. test /inspect coolant for its freeze point/rust/color/cleanliness, if it still has the spare tire underneath, lower it down, grease the cable, check the tire for dry rot, check air pressure. Check to make sure the jack is still located in the rear panel, flip seats forward and make sure the tire tools, and spare tire release parts are there, and fastened under the seat. These are all commonly overlooked things. Would hate to see you have a flat, and not have the proper tools needed to get the truck back on the road.

Hope this helps, I know some of this is not engine/drivetrain related, but its still relative. Thanks
