What is the physical difference in the $150 Dashcap brand and the $55 Ebay caps/covers?

Although, you don't -ALWAYS- get what you pay for!

I would look for forum reviews and pics, and go with something that has known good results..

This is the only one I've seen in detail and it looks pretty good to me.. (more pics on the next page)

I would want the best fitting piece I could find (if the max difference is $100).

Did ya ever hear the saying

’You Get What You Pay For’

Or

‘The Bitterness of Poor Quality Remains Long After The Sweetness of Low Price Is Forgotten’
Let's amend that old saying to be "You get what you paid of, AT BEST."

That's a tough one to answer, without a detailed listing of the materials used to make them. But, IMO, the Dashcap brand is ~$100 more than the eBay brand, and it is unlikely that the difference is pure profit. Thus, some of that difference is most likely in the cost of the materials themselves.

Extra cost might indicate a more focused plan for fitment, too. All good things to consider; read reviews.

the bottom line is a cashcap may be a bad idea should the need arise to ever do anything that requires the instrument cluster or dash trim to be removed because a "cap" goes on top of some of those pieces that need to be removed in such a event. just food for thought.
A new dash can be replaced in a day, weekend, etc prices may vary I haven't priced one recently they were hovering around $550-600 in the past depending on where you shop, there is always the stupid high priced advert's online, you gotta be a bit more savy to find the reasonably priced ones.
some people have repaired them with reasonable success but personally if I am going to take the time to yank the pos out I am going to just replace it with a new one.
